I take the time to research your situation completely and bring about the most effective opportunities ensuring you get the successful outcome you deserve. I'm proud that so many of my clients have repeatedly referred their family and friends to me for counsel and representation. I am determined to work hard to earn my clients loyalty every day.
I care deeply about my clients and treat them as people instead of just another case. I work hard to resolve their cases with minimal disruption as well as trying to prevent future arrests and issues.
I have the experience and knowledge to get great results for my clients. I have represented thousands of clients in various criminal matters, including jury trials, motions to suppress, and motions to dismiss. I get great results for my clients by being ready and willing to argue motions or go to trial. During 2010, I had more felony jury trials than all assistant public defenders in the 20th Judicial Circuit, including a two-week long jury trial. I continue to take cases to trial and argue motions to suppress and dismiss in private practice.
My cases were often featured on local news outlets such as Fox 4 and Wink News. My defense of my client in a high profile murder case was featured on national and local news including Good Morning America, ESPN, Miami Herald, and the Washington Post. In addition, in April of 2013, I appeared on the nationally syndicated Dr. Phil Show to discuss a victory in a Stand Your Ground Motion where all charges were dismissed against my client.
I am passionate about using my knowledge to help people. I actively write about legal topics in my blog found at http://janesecaruthers.wordpress.com/. I also lectures on various legal topics at community events in southwest Florida. I was a member of the Police Brutality Commission of the National Bar Association where I helped educate people about search and seizure issues, educate people about their rights with police, and how to litigate claims against the police.
I am a graduate of Furman University and Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
